Psychological Therapies
Hi, I am Amy Stoddard-Ajayi. I am a highly experienced psychological therapist with an MSc, (RMBACP) in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Positive Psychology Coaching. I have a background in specialist secondary care within the NHS and further back as an Anthropologist. I am trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities and have 20 years in the field of specialist therapeutic environments (see my other training at the bottom of this page).
I am published in the mental health field and have a number of roles, as follows:
- I am the Mental Health Lead for the Cambridge Medical Academy based at Cambridge University where I am responsible for designing and delivering training programmes for about 1000 Medics working within hospital settings internationally.
- I am the Director of Psychological Coaching, an organisation recently established to provide specialist services that combine clinical intervention and coaching to executives. Through Psychological Coaching, I am responsible for the development and delivery of a specialist psychological service provided to Grant Thornton UK LLP's Partners.
- I am a visiting lecturer at Southampton University where I teach the MSc and Phd Psychology students in distinct areas of study.
- I am a consultant to CiC (Creating Global Wellbeing & Mental Health Solutions) where I provide specialist trauma based psychological interventions for people exposed to violent and distressing content in their professional roles such as war/crisis correspondents and photographers.
I have developed a strong reputation in the field of psychology and have a number of high profile, internationally recognised clients who require a specific understanding of living with the complexities of fame and public attention.
My consulting rooms are based in Chichester, however, I currently operate a fully confidential online service for anyone living further away (including international settings) covering treatment for a range of psychological and emotional issues. I am regularly supporting my clients through a combined approach, working closely with psychiatry and specialist nursing services. See fees below.
As part of my clinical and training services I work with a broader group of associate consultants including private psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, consultant surgeons and healthcare specialists.
FEES
For individuals accessing therapy, sessions are charged at £135 per therapeutic hour. Call or email my PA, Doon Muir to enquire about an appointment.
For corporate arrangements fees differ. Please contact my PA, Doon Muir to make an enquiry.
Which problems?
Amy and her team regularly work with patients suffering with depression, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, OCD, women's problems, substance misuse, chronic pain issues such as long term back/neck pain, perinatal mental health, anger, personality disorder, bipolar affective disorder, psychotic illnesses, eating disorders, work related stress, family and parenting problems and marriage difficulties.
It is our preference you complete the self referral form, however we can arrange for you to have a short call with Amy or one of her associates to discuss your options.
It may be necessary to refer private clients to trusted colleagues depending on their specific needs, this would always be discussed and agreed before any referral takes place.
The therapeutic relationship
During my career, I have gained significant experience in supporting people to become psychologically and emotionally well again.
Many of the patients I have supported have required specialist support with chronic anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, addiction and physical and psychological pain.
I have in-depth clinical knowledge of how to manage complex psychological conditions and where required, work in conjunction with my patient's GP and a range of other health professionals to manage their care.
My approach is designed to enable my patients to become fully capable of managing their own emotional distress without having to rely on psychological services long term.

I form highly impacting therapeutic relationships that are both supportive and appropriately challenging.
"Most of us experience stress and distress at certain points in our lives. The good news is that there are effective, evidence based, psychological treatments. Often the challenge is finding someone who is a qualified expert professional who can help us successfully navigate our way through these upsetting experiences and difficult times. Amy combines robust psychological knowledge and extensive clinical experience with a thoughtful, emotionally intelligent and compassionate approach to patient care. Amy provides an excellent standard of clinical care whilst building rapport and a strong therapeutic alliance with patients. She establishes a highly collaborative approach to helping her patients develop, and maintain, an effective tool-kit of cognitive and behavioural techniques to improve their psychological health and wellbeing."
- Dr Brian Marien - Founder, The Positive Group
How can Cognitive Behavioural Therapy help?
CBT has one of the strongest evidence-bases for effectiveness for a wide range of problems. It is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Health and Care Excellence) for and has been proven through hundreds of clinical studies over the past 20 years to effectively help with the large majority of psychological problems.
We will work with you to help you describe how you are feeling and make sense of what is happening to you. You will be supported with kindness and empathy but you will also be challenged when you are ready, so that you can begin to take control of your problems and make different decisions in your life that lead to better outcomes.

We are also trained in a number of other psychological modalities and adjust my approach to treatment based on the needs of the individual we are working with.
